Symbolism — The Hunab Ku Quincunx

The Quincunx (or Toltecayotl) is one of the most profound symbols of Mesoamerican cosmovision. It represents the sacred balance of opposites — the universe itself, the human being as a universe, and the elements of nature — all unified in a single geometric form.

The symbol appears across many cultures worldwide (as crosses, pyramids, sacred mountains, flowers, and geometric figures) always carrying similar meanings. In this Toltec form, four butterflies emerge from the center toward the four directions of the universe. The center corresponds to the navel — the Axis Mundi of the cosmos, of nature, and of the human being.

Each person can recognize in this symbol their own strengths and weaknesses, their conscious and unconscious, and renew themselves — not to be better than others, but better than themselves. Like the butterfly, emerging as a new being capable of reaching further in their own universe.

Stone Properties — Black Obsidian

Obsidian is a natural volcanic glass, one of the most spiritually significant stones in Mexican tradition. Before the arrival of Europeans, the Mexica used it for meditation rituals, protection against negativity, and as mirrors to reflect the inner self. Obsidian figures and beads were also buried with the deceased for protection in the afterlife.

  • Protection — shields against negativity and psychic attack
  • Self-reflection — reveals truth, dispels illusions
  • Grounding — anchors the root chakra to the center of the earth
  • Renewal — supports deep transformation and growth
