About Manto Huichol Velvet Obsidian

A rare Mexican obsidian that suffered a seismic shock during its cooling, creating successive layers of iridescent reflections — an abstraction of moving colors unique in the light. Its name and colors are borrowed from the visions of the Huichol (Wirrárika) people during ceremonies with hikuri (peyote), a sacred Mexican plant. The Huichols inhabit the Sierra Madre Occidental where Zacatecas, Durango, Jalisco and Nayarit converge.
